And you will have the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the materials and construction techniques are safe and reliable, the manufacturer is reputable and the price you paid was fair.

Who wouldn’t want to sleep in a race car bed? They probably won’t admit it, but we’re pretty sure there are plenty of dads out there who would love to catch some shut-eye in a fire truck or a tugboat bed. But sorry guys – these are sized for kids.

In addition to fire trucks, tugboats and race cars, RonJuneShop.com offers the Bat-Mobile bed, the Hummer bed and a train bed. Many of rugged, way-cool styles also come with your child’s name and are available in a variety of colors. Coordinating accessories include dressers, desks and bookshelves. These beds are amazing detailed and are finished with the highest quality paints and hardware.

For the girls, there is a delightful selection of canopy styles, princess beds and cloud beds. Also finished to the highest standards of quality and durability, these heirloom quality beds and accessories will be the center point of your child’s dream bedroom. Finished with just the right coordinating accessories, these bedrooms will be envy of the neighborhood.

For toddlers, there is a great selection of beds that look just like the big kids’. Like all of the unique kids beds available here, a full line of matching accessories is available separately. The toddler cots are low to the floor, reducing the chance of injury if the child falls out. Slightly raised sides reduce the likelihood of an accident, but the thoughtful addition of a low clearance adds peace of mind.

When choosing between the various styles, be aware that some are available as twin, full or cot sized mattresses.

Funky Furniture Brings Fun To Any Child’S Bedroom

girl bedroom furniture

Every child wants to have the coolest bedroom out of all of their friends. Young kids particulary love fun theme beds, with racing car beds and princess fairy beds being particularly popular for boys and girls of all ages. Many novelty beds are available with matching bedroom furniture too. Jigsaw assembly furniture is another novel way to jazz up a child’s room, with brands such as Kidsaw bedroom furniture offering easy slot-together furniture that doesn’t need screws, glue or special tools yet doesn’t wobble or loosen and is just as sturdy as regular furniture.

With older kids and tweens it can be more difficult to find cool and funky furniture they’ll like. Kids get to an age where they would like to have a little more leeway in choosing child furniture and accessories for their room.

They want to show their rooms off to their friends and be able to point out special features that have a WOW factor, like illuminated bedside tables. These are much more appealing to kids than those smaller versions of adult furnishings. Funky, trendy child bedroom furniture is a way of giving identity and ownership of the room to your child.

By setting some rules and offering your child some totally cool and funky kids bedroom furniture options, the two of you should be able to create a room that is as individual as they are.

Rooms can really pop when the walls and bedding have strong colour or patterns, and this sets the tone for some really rocking furniture choices. Slouch interactive beanbag chairs are always great fun, very mobile and can be found in a colour and style that will look splendid in your child’s bedroom. They are always comfortable, and they provide extra seating when school friends are over for a visit. These are very popular for kids of almost any age.

Interactive multimedia chairs are made for kids. Who would not enjoy lounging in comfort while plugged into their music or video games? With surround sound and vibrations, these chairs take game playing to new heights of excitement. These chairs are compatible with MP3 players as well as the most popular gaming systems.

Also be sure that a specific area in the child’s room is included as their own “get away paradise”.   Just pick a spot and add a fuzzy rug that is soft and colourful, add a sheer curtain panel or string beads along the wall to highlight this special room area. You can also add accents to the wall with some framed, personalized childrens pictures or arched mirrors.  Throw pillows will add bright splashes of color and they can be used as floor seating when necessary. This turns a drab corner into a really cool spot for friends to congregate as they watch television, listen to music, or just hang out.

If you’re tight on space in your child’s room, high sleepers with under storage space can be the right answer and your kids will love this practical and great looking furniture.  In the storage area, your child can arrange their computer, television, and books. They can even turn this space into homework and reading area.  Of course, this little hide-a-way also makes a snug area that will give them a private retreat when they want to have some quiet time as well.

“A child’s bedroom serves as much more than a place for you kids to play. Some guidelines to follow include:

?        Involve your children in the buying of the furniture and decorating process; it’s their room, after all, and it stands to reason they will be more comfortable with items they helped select.

?        Take into account your child’s age, gender and how long the furniture will be used (e.g. bunk beds might be fun at 12, but at 16 your teenager might want some more space)

?        Only consider bedroom furniture that has quality construction and age-appropriate design. It is also a good idea to bring children along while shopping to make sure the bedding is comfortable.

?        Plan for growth – not just your child getting bigger but acquiring more things and clothing that will need to be stored.

In addition, DirectBuy employs product specialists and designers who can help parents and children select furniture and accessories to create the look you want for your child’s room.

Choosing a Unique Theme for Your Children’s Bedroom

metal bedroom furniture

While it can be fun and exciting to decorate, sometimes it’s also difficult to think of a theme for an area. This is particularly true when decorating your child’s room. You want to be unique and creative, but you also want to keep in mind your child’s personality and his or her likes and dislikes. Fortunately, there is all sorts of children’s bedroom furniture available today to inspire creative themes around which you can build a beautiful child’s room.

Does your child like fanciful stories and gallant epic tales? Perhaps pirates or fairies thrill your youth to no end. For these little adventurers, you can start with kids’ canopy beds, which can be set up to cater to both boys and girls today. Use it to build a castle that can house a prince or be stormed by wandering armies and bands of thieves for your son, or create a lighthouse or tower for your princess of a little girl. Either way, you’ve started with an idea that can be carried through as a theme throughout the entire room. Perhaps the canopy could be the sail for a pirate’s ship, and the rest of the room could be “decked” out. There is no end to the possibilities.

Maybe your child likes to get away from it all and be alone, or maybe he or she is a star gazer, with a head in the clouds. Loft beds provide the perfect frame for such ideals, creating a vibe that feels like being away from the rest of the world by lifting the child above the mundane life of the everyday world. You can use this as a basis for the rest of the room as well, painting the ceiling to reflect a daytime sky ‘ light blue with fluffy white clouds ‘ or a nighttime sky full of stars and planets. Rainbows, birds, space shuttles, or other things that interest the child can also be incorporated into the design, perhaps in the sheets, d?r, or walls.

In order to create a nice thematic design, however, you will need some extensive organizational practices. Remember that children have toys that clutter up a space, as well as games, shoes, and clothes that rival the closet of a supermodel. Storing the excess is essential to the design of the space. For this purpose, you may want to consider incorporating kids’ storage beds into the space, where you can make use of additional drawers and shelves to keep clutter and mess to a minimum. This will allow you to include more creative applications in the space with nothing distracting from the theme.

Kids’ bedroom furniture never has to be boring. It can easily be decorated to create a theme, with the personality of the child and the unique thoughts of you as the designer blending to bring home the perfect decoration ideas. Because most of the furniture for youths begins as a blank slate, it is easy to turn it into whatever you wish!

Great Thing About Children’s Bedroom Furniture

kids bedroom furniture

Kids bedroom furniture is perfect for helping your son, or daughter, get his, or her, room organized. How so? Well, it is because they are available in all sorts of types and designs. For instance, maybe your son has a lot of books and video games to go along with that TV of his. Then, what would be a good fit for his room would be an armoire that could double as an entertainment center.

The great thing about children’s bedroom furniture, is that is just a great way to really organize your child’s bedroom and keep it clean. It provides them with nice areas to store their clothes, their toys, extra bedding, and even their special keepsakes. Plus, it gives the space a very beautiful look, not just because it is kept clean and organized, but because the furniture itself has a fantastic appearance.

The furniture you choose should also not have sharp corners or heavy pieces that can come off and fall on your child. Again, a lot of furniture made for children is made specifically so that safety is a first consideration, but you should still keep an eye out and make sure the furniture you choose is completely safe and won’t hurt your child in any way.

Color – Color is important too, but in this case, you can let your child’s creativity and tastes weigh in. After all, what’s better as a child than to have a kids chair just for you, in your favorite color and just your size? That’s one way to make a child feel really special.

Another thing to look at in kids bedroom furniture is the edges. There are some beautiful pieces of furniture out there on the market, but a lot of it has pointed edges. In a child’s room, this is an accident waiting to happen. While you may tell them time and time again not to run in the house, it will happen, and it’s best if you have rounded edges on the furniture for the time when they run into it.

There are many online stores, interior designers and furniture designers, who can help you in selecting the right designer furniture for your kids room. Even they can tell you the ideas on how to make effective utilization of space in the room and use furniture, which give the kids comfort.

As your child ages, bunk beds or futon bunks make use of airspace to preserve that hard-won floor space. We saw bunk beds as climbing structures where kids could practice climbing in a safe environment. The sleepover stage reaches its peak at pre-teen years, when a child learns to bond with people outside the family. Bunk beds are advantageous as older children tire of sleeping on the floor. Futon bunks combine a single bed on top and a double sofa-bed below. The futon bunk bed is the ultimate space-saver for a child’s room as the bed rises above the clutter while the couch is still available as a comfortable reading space and additional sleeper. All of these make for great kids bedroom furniture.

Updating Kids Room

kids bedroom furniture

Your child’s room is perhaps the one place that your kid reflects on his hiding place and comfort zone. This is where he finds the privacy that he requires and though you think that kids at their young ages do not require privacy then you are absolutely wrong. Your child’s room is the place where he finds to be himself and you must therefore understand how significant his room is for him.

Your kid’s room should look comforting and tidy simultaneously as well as it is your responsibility as his parent to ask him to maintain and clean his room regularly. You may also want to arrange your budget because reinventing your child’s room could be expensive however the experience will certainly be rewarding consecutively. The great thing is that there are a number of sites online that might guide and help you with this as well as in no time you could be faced with a complete new look for your child’s room.

One amongst the easiest rooms to refurbish is the child’s room. You could be playful with colors as well as make is as entertaining as you can. The place is also small and so is furniture that makes it more exciting and fun to redecorate. The room of your kid is perhaps one of the regions in the house that requires renovation from time to time. This is since kids grow up fast and you have to modernize their room to match to their need and age. The requirements of your kid vary, when he became a toddler evaluated to his requirements when he was only an infant.

You would certainly want to revamp a room from house you purchase to suit the requirements of your kid. The excitement part about refurbishing the room is that you could use this to educate him things as well as have fun with him. Following are some ways to make the procedure exciting for both of you:

2. After shopping for kids beds and other furniture, show your children the color of paint you got for room. This would be something that they would look forward to.

3. Allocate him to do the project while you are ready to start the renovation. This would make him feel part of the whole process.

4. When all the kids furniture is in, you could invite the children to join you in room. Educate them how to place their toys. How To Prepare For Your First Baby

baby bedroom furniture

Planning for your first baby is a happy and frightening event. You want your newborns bedroom and the nursery furniture to be flawless, but it is vital to think about you and your baby’s comfort and wellbeing first. It’s therefore vital to ponder the dangers a nursery can present when designing your newborns first room.

The initial thing to fit to a new nursery is a smoke detector, for just a couple of pounds (or free from your community fire prevention officer) these must have gadgets should be your first consideration. When your child begins to crawl it’s important that any spare electrical outlet is covered with a simple plastic socket protector to prevent your inquisitive baby from sticking his fingers. It’s also a good idea to locate bedroom furniture in the way to prevent your baby from finding sockets.

Your baby’s cot is the item of nursery furniture where she will spend the most time for her first months. Cots are also one of the major causes of infant harm and death so it is essential to make sure your cot follows the recommended safety standards. Your cot should be deep enough so your baby is unable to climb out. Check that the spacing between the rails is not capable of permitting the child to trap their head.Ensure that cots with lowering sides lock automatically and cannot be worked free by the child.

It’s important that used cots are checked out thoroughly for damage to fastenings and fixtures and that you buy a brand new mattress for your baby. It’s also vital to check the mattress is a snug fit and leaves no more than a 4cm gap around the outside to prevent your child from becoming trapped.

Remember to place your newborn down to sleep on her back to lower the dangers of SIDS and refrain from using cushions or overly fluffy bed clothes in the cot. When using a nightlight make sure it is placed away from the cot and any other soft furnishings

Try to place your nursery furniture in a way that prevents positioning things in front of windows. Also steer clear of positioning anything that can assist your child to stand on to peer out of a window. Window locks are a fantastic way to make certain your youngster’s windows can only be released by you. If you have to open a window to permit ventilation make sure the window is secured and never open more than 5cm, there are fastenings on the market that stop windows from being opened wide enough to allow a child to climb out.

Another item of baby furniture responsible for numerous baby injuries is the changing station. Always fasten your child firmly with the changing station’s safety straps and never leave her on the table unattended. Keep your changing gear out of baby’s reach. Babies and toddlers are instinctively inquisitive and nappy sacks or rash creams are potentially dangerous.

Rather worryingly one of the most common causes of harm in a child’s room are curtains and blinds. Avoid using long curtains or drapes that may ensnare and suffocate a small toddler and never hang blinds with lengthy cords in your baby’s nursery. If you do use blinds, be sure to fold the strings out of the way high above baby’s reach and never place nursery furniture your baby occupies, like her cot or the changing table, near the blinds.

Choose your toy storage carefully. Toy boxes should be fitted with safety hinges or lightweight fabric lids to stop fingers from being trapped. As your baby gets older, she may climb inside the toy chest, toy box and a weighty lid could trap her so it’s important they be fitted with safety hinges or lightweight lids. Drawers are also potentially dangerous and ideally should have a soft close function. Doors also pose a danger to little digits and all doors should be fitted with child safe mechanisms to stop small digits from becoming damaged

By following straight forward advice and making sure their furniture complies the appropriate standards new parents can produce safe, chic and welcoming bedrooms for children and babies for their new baby.

Choosing Childrens Bedroom Furniture and Designing your Child’s Bedroom – Tips From a Professional Interior Designer by Susannah Greenan

Bedroom Furniture

Designing a child’s room can feel quite daunting. Children can be harsh critics and all parents know how key a bedroom is to a child. In this article, I’ve written some of my top tips to consider if you are thinking of making over either a childs or teenagers room.

1. Decide what furniture you actually need, or, can fit in to the available space. Consider:

o Do you want a two or three door wardrobe (consider room for school uniforms, sports and PE kits, costumes and winter and summer clothing)?

o What style of bed do you want? If your child is of pre-school age, Government guidelines recommend low lying beds not more than 40cms from the ground;

o Is there sufficient shelving/storage for books, CD’s and other belongings?

o A desk to study at, house a computer at or simply draw and play at;

o A chair;

o A bedside table.

2. Take a look at just what your child has managed to accrue and you will be surprised, so don’t make the mistake of underestimating the storage space your child needs. Consider future needs, for example, whilst a desk may not be important right now, if they are moving to high school in a year or two, this will be important. Try to incorporate as much space and as many needs into your original design as possible.

3.Consider if the existing lighting and power sources are appropriate. If you need to move power points, add ceiling or wall lights or install new power sources, do this before anything else and then be sure to check that your new furniture can fit following any changes.

4. Most people have some limit on their available funds and so if on a budget, set a realistic one and stick to it. There is a lot of cheap bedroom furniture on the market, my recommendation is that you avoid it and buy product that won’t fall apart within the first 12 months. Is a warranty offered? Are there reviews on the sellers website? All of these can help you gauge the quality of a product if it is not a brand you recognise.

5. Involve your child in planning and designing the room as much as possible, it is their room! Clearly this will depend on the age of your child, but even four year olds can have very fixed ideas of what they want their room to look like. Choosing a theme together is really important and there are so many fantastic ones to choose from. Just keep in mind that you want a room that looks great and is a practical and functional space. A childs room is used very differently to any other room in the house. If you think about it, the room will have a number of uses: for sleep, relaxing, playing with friends and for older children – homework. Choose furniture that facilitates as many of these as possible.

6. It is fun to do the decorating yourself. If you are and are not that experienced, estimate how long you think it will take you and double it! This will sound really obvious but it is something I see time and time again and can make the whole process unnecessarily stressful. In short, choose a good time to do it when young children are cared for by someone else and you are not expecting anyone to stay for a few weeks. Inevitably your child will need to move into a spare room or double up with a sibling, there is nothing worse than rushing a job because visitors are due or because Christmas or a special occasion is looming.

7. If you are ordering new furniture, obtain an expected delivery date from your supplier. You can then plan your decorating work around that. I always suggest buying any accessories once the furniture is in place, so that you can really see what is needed. With themed bedroom furniture, you will need relatively few accessories as the furniture makes a huge statement by itself. For more neutral/plain furniture, accessorising can be more necessary. If you are buying accessories, don’t spend too much. Children will outgrow these relatively quickly and replacing accessories after 2 years or so is a cheap and effective way of updating a room so that it remains appropriate to your child’s age. There are so many good websites, not only srbWorld, that sell great room accessories. High street sales are also a great way of picking up bargains in this area.

Happy designing!

Tips to get Toddlers Prepared for a New Baby

baby bedroom furniture

After my second child arrived, I held him in my arms and my husband and I looked at him lovingly as my daughter watched. My toddler then said, “I think we should stay a small family.” That’s when it hit me. We didn’t do enough to prepare my older child for her brother’s arrival.

The good news is I have some suggestions for you on how to make the addition of a new sibling a time of sharing and bonding between you and your first child.

Sibling Tummy Time

As you begin to show in your pregnancy, allow your child to feel the developing baby, and let them begin a relationship early on. Encourage your little one to sing songs, tell jokes, explain the rules of the house, talk about his or her day or express whatever comes to mind.

Family Ultrasound Visit

If possible, have your little one along for an ultrasound. Imagine the excitement you’ll all feel as you see the little addition develop! The miracle of birth is a celebration for the whole family to share.

Track the Baby’s Due Date

Get a special calendar and circle the new baby’s due date. Let your toddler make an X each day as they pass. This is a good way to spend a little time each day allowing your child to talk about how they are feeling and what they are thinking about this impending change to the family structure.

Books about a New Baby

There are great children’s books written to help in this transition. (These, by the way, make an excellent baby gift at a shower for a woman with one child at home.) Make a special date and take your child to the library and read them together. Your little one will feel important, and recognize the sometimes confusing feelings are universal.

Assist with Nursery Design

Are you setting up a nursery? If so, let your child help. I suggest color selection is best left to the adults. Don’t make the same mistake I did and suffer through years of Cotton Candy Yellow in your home. If the two of them will be sharing a bedroom, make sure the older sibling has a say in how the space is arranged, and where the baby’s equipment and clothes will be arranged.

Baby Doll Roll Play

Practice with a life-sized doll. Allow your child to change and bathe the doll, and tuck it into the crib. Explain this is what you’ll be doing when the new baby comes home. This is also a good opportunity to discuss how babies are totally dependent on others for their care, how time-consuming this is, and how big a help an older brother or sister can be!

Early Sibling Schedule Changes

If you’re planning a change of schedule when baby comes (day care, more time with Grandma, preschool, etc.) begin that BEFORE the baby’s arrival. This will allow the adjustment to be made before the Big Event. Your child won’t feel as if he or she is being shoved aside by the arrival of the baby.

Gift for the New Baby

The arrival of a new little one is often an occasion for a baby gift. It’s fun to go on a shopping trip to pick out a baby gift for the new brother or sister that is just from your older child. Make a play time out of wrapping it.

Gift for Big Brother or Sister

And as long as we are talking about a baby gift, make sure you pick out something wonderful and absorbing for your older child in celebration of the new role of Big Brother or Big Sister. Give it to them right before the baby comes, and it does double duty as a way to entertain during those first days when Baby is so time-consuming.

You have no doubt noted the recurring theme in these suggestions: Communication. Siblings feel many emotions as they prepare for an addition to the family. These may include excitement, fear, jealousy, uncertainty and anxiety. By introducing the concept early on, discussing it whenever possible, engaging the older sibling in the preparation and celebrating not only the baby but also the Older Sibling status, you go a long way to promoting positive feelings and attitudes conducive to a lifetime of love and loyalty among your children.
